DIVISIONS OF THE GOA'ULD RACE
The System Lords and their underlords
The System Lords and their servants represent the greater whole
of the Goa'uld race. They rule vast holdings and war constantly
against each other for power and territory. They are reluctant
to enter shaky alliances when the integrity of their common
holdings is threatened by outside forces.
The Tok'ra
A small group that rebel against the System Lords. Their movement
was literally spawned by the queen Egeria two thousand years
ago before she was sealed by Ra for betraying him. They use
deception, subterfuge and exploit the constant struggles among
the System Lords to gain an advantage against them. Their main
goal is the destruction of the System Lords. It is considered
a great offence to call them Goa'uld.
Due to recent attacks by Anubis' forces, the Tok'ra's numbers
have been greatly diminished and are scattered throughout the
galaxy. And with the recent death of Egeria, there is little
hope that new symbiotes will join the ranks of the Tok'ra.
The Linvers
A league of lesser Goa'uld that rival both the System Lords and
the Tok'ra. There were nine of them and they were a simultaneously
killed by one of Machello's anti-Goa'uld devices.
HIERARCHY OF THE SYSTEM LORDS
Supreme System Lord
The ruler of the System Lords. He holds more power than any
other individual System Lord and as such acts as their de
facto leader. Ra and before him Sokar are the two last known
Supreme System Lords. Cronos was next in line in terms of power,
but never assumed the title itself.
System Lord
A feudal ruler among the Goa'uld. They constantly war on each
other for power and territory. They can enter shaky alliances,
but only in order to defend against outside threats. Most
decisions that affect the Goa'uld race are decided
"democratically" among the System Lords, such decrees are to
be upheld by all of the System Lords.
Some Goa'uld System Lords are rogue and do not respect the decrees,
thus becoming an enemy of all the System Lords. To some, they are
still known as System Lords while others consider them merely
rogue Goa'uld and not official System Lords.
Fallen System Lords where once powerful, but due to intervention
where taken out of action. They have no real power on the galactic
scale, except if they ever manage to amass and army behind the
un-spsecting System Lords' backs.
Queen
Equivalent to a System Lords in some cases. They produce the larval
Goa'uld symbiote and are particularly resistant to most firearms.
Isis and Hathor were both queens. Most queens serve a specific System
Lord and produce the larval symbiotes for their Jaffa.
Underlord
A lesser Goa'uld in the service of a System Lord. They administer the
holdings of the System Lords. They also are depicted as gods by the
other servants of the System Lords.
Lo'taur
The highest ranking human servant of a System Lord. They act as
personal attendants and are privileged to information that no other
slave can imagine. Some System Lords, for example Morrigan, send
their Lo'taur in order to gather information on rivals and use it to
gain an advantage over them in their constant struggles for power.
First Prime
The second in command and the highest ranking Jaffa under a Goa'uld.
They relay the orders of the Goa'uld to the other Jaffa. The have a
golden seal of the Goa'uld they serve on their forehead rather than
a tattoo like other Jaffa.
Jaffa
The military bulk of the System Lords. They are genetically altered
by the Goa'uld to carry larval Goa'uld during a maturation period
of seven years. Which makes them dependant and loyal to the Goa'uld
for the larval symbiote completely replaces their immune system of
the Jaffa. They worship the Goa'uld as gods.
*There are many other ranks among the Jaffa race such as priests,
servants, slaves etc...
