BIOGRAPHY

A System Lord, brother and rival of Ra, he has been one of SG-1's most feared and persistent rivals. He attacked the SGC along with several other planets in search of new hosts for his son Klorel and queen Amaunet. After their hosts were selected they all returned to his homeworld before SG-1 could catch up with them. It was then that Teal'c betrayed Apophis and joined the ranks of the Tau'ri. It was around this time also that he fathered the harcesis child of Amaunet.

After several skirmishes with SG-1, he decided to take the offensive and attack Earth along with Klorel by using two motherships. His attack was halted by the presence of SG-1 that had stowed away on Klorel's mothership. With the help of Klorel's first prime Bra'tac, they destroyed both motherships in orbit of Earth before they could attack. Both Apophis and Klorel managed to escape by using the on-board stargate located on Klorel's ship.

After such a significant loss, Apophis lost his rank as System Lord and many Goa'uld System Lords were hot on his trail, either seeking his territory or simply for revenge. One such Goa'uld, Sokar, managed to capture him and torture him for quite some time. Eventually, he managed to escape captivity and flee to Earth where he died in the SGC. His corpse was sent to Sokar in order to stop an attack by the monstrously powerful Goa'uld who was using a particle accelerator on the stargate's iris.

His power lost and thought dead, Apophis was in fact resurrected by Sokar's sarcophagus and sent to the hellish prison-moon of Netu. When SG-1 came to the moon in search of the Tok'ra Selmak, Apophis, under the disguise of Na'onak, killed the warden Bynarr and took control of the denizens that inhabited the moon. He tried to bargain with Sokar in exchange for a chance to serve him(and eventually kill him). But Sokar did not fall for the ruse and Apophis made his escape to Delmak, Sokar's home planet with the transport rings on Sokar's ship. Much to his surprise, he was able to take control of Sokar's entire army after the former's death when Netu was triggered to explode by the Tok'ra called Aldwyn.

He slowly began to amass his forces, researching new technologies and making alliances. One such alliance was with his hated enemy Heru-ur, who was currently allied with the other System Lords against Apophis' army. Apophis destroyed Heru-ur's mothership after a ploy from SG-1 and the Tok'ra seemed to indicated that Heru-ur had attacked him. He then deployed a cloaked fleet of motherships that covered his escape from the dangerous minefield in the Tobin system where the negotiations of the alliance were taking place. He absorbed the remainder of Heru-ur's army into his own, making him more powerful than ever.

Using information received from the Tok'ra traitor Tanith, Apophis proceeded to attack the Tok'ra world of Vorash with the majority of his vast fleet. Upon arrival, it was clear that the Tok'ra had already abandoned the planet. Tanith returned to Apophis and brought Teal'c as a prize.

When the sun of Vorash went nova thanks to the machinations of SG-1, Apophis and SG-1's stolen mothership were hurled into another galaxy, several million light years away. Apophis' mothership was attacked by Replicators and he was forced to abandon the ship. He took control of SG-1's mothership with the help of a brainwashed Teal'c, but to his horror, the Replicators had also infested that ship as well and were heading straight for Delmak, Apophis' new base. The Replicators somehow upgraded the hyper-drive engines and the trip was made in far less time than expected. SG-1 sabotaged the sub-light engines so the ship would crash on Delmak, taking Apophis and the Replicators with it. Apophis is confirmed dead and his territory is now contested by the remaining System Lords.

NOTES

Apophis was a powerful System Lord, but his views were not shared by most of the other System Lords since his most important rivals were Cronos, Ra and Heru-ur, whom were some of the most powerful System Lords. Apophis' attack on Earth would have been devastating if he had had the support of his peers, support his rivals denied him.
